Overview
Stockholms largest advent calendar
In 2025, Nytorgsgruppen launched a large-scale digital advent calendar in public space, transforming a well-known façade in Södermalm into a living, motion-based calendar throughout December.
The project explored how short-form video and digital storytelling engaged a broad audience in an urban context, both on-site and through Nytorgsgruppen’s app. Each day revealed a new piece of content, building anticipation and creating a shared, recurring moment in the city during the Christmas season.
My contribution
Advent Candle Series
Together with my group, I created a series of three short videos centered around lighting the advent candles. The concept is built on playful escalation: first attempting to light the candles with matches, then a lighter, and finally succeeding using a flambé torch.
The series uses timing, repetition, and visual contrast to create a lighthearted narrative that builds anticipation while contributing to the overall storytelling of the calendar. With each new Advent release, an additional candle is lit.
Gift wrapping video
The second contribution was a short, comedic video exploring the familiar frustrations of gift wrapping. The narrative follows a realistic emotional shift -from initial excitement to irritation - as tape sticks to fingers and wrapping paper falls short.
The video uses humor and relatability to complement the overall tone of the advent calendar, offering a recognisable moment many viewers could identify with.
